Difference between light steel structure and steel structure
 
        The design code of light steel structure (Shanghai standard) distinguishes light steel from ordinary steel in this way; there is no strict definition for light steel structure buildings, which can generally be distinguished by the section composition of main stressed members. Therefore, the following structures can be called light steel structures:
       
(1) Structure made of cold-formed thin-walled steel

       
(2) Structure made of hot-rolled light section steel

       
(3) Structure composed of welded and high-frequency welded light section steel;

         (4) Structure made of round pipe, square pipe, rectangular pipe, etc;
 
         (5) Structure made of components welded by thin steel plates;
 
         (6) A structure composed of the above components.
 
        There is no uniform standard for judging the structure as heavy steel structure and light steel structure, and many experienced designers or project managers cannot fully explain it, but we can comprehensively consider and judge it based on some data:
 
1. Hoisting weight of crane in plant: ≥ 25T, which can be considered as heavy steel structure.
 
2. Steel consumption per square meter: ≥ 50KG/M2, which can be considered as heavy steel structure.
 
3. Thickness of steel plate for main components: ≥ 10MM, less for light steel structure

       Steel structure is mainly composed of steel materials, which is one of the main types of building structures. The structure is mainly composed of steel beams, steel columns, steel trusses and other components made of section steel and steel plates. The components or parts are usually connected by welds, bolts or rivets. Because of its light weight and simple construction, it is widely used in large factories, venues, super high-rise and other fields
       Features of steel structure
   
   1. High material strength and light weight
Steel has high strength and elastic modulus. Compared with concrete and wood, the ratio of its density to yield strength is relatively low, so under the same stress conditions, the steel structure has small member section, light deadweight, convenient transportation and installation, and is suitable for structures with large span, high height, and heavy load.
        2Steel has good toughness, plasticity, uniform material and high structural reliability
It is suitable for bearing impact and dynamic load, and has good seismic performance. The internal structure of the steel is uniform, close to isotropic homogeneous body. The actual working performance of steel structure conforms to the calculation theory. Therefore, the reliability of steel structure is high.
        3High mechanization of steel structure manufacturing and installation
The steel structure members are easy to be manufactured in the factory and assembled on the construction site. The factory mechanized manufacturing of steel structure components has high precision, high production efficiency, fast assembly speed on site, and short construction period. Steel structure is a kind of structure with industrialization degree * *.
        4Good sealing performance of steel structure
Because the welded structure can be completely sealed, it can be made into high pressure vessels, large oil pools, pressure pipes, etc. with good air tightness and water tightness.
        5Steel structure is heat-resistant and not fire-resistant
When the temperature is below 150 ℃, the properties of steel change little. Therefore, the steel structure is suitable for the hot workshop, but when the structure surface is exposed to the thermal radiation of about 150 ℃, it should be protected by the heat insulation plate. At 300 ℃ - 400 ℃ The strength and elastic modulus of steel decreased significantly, and the strength of steel tended to zero when the temperature was about 600 ℃. In buildings with special fire protection requirements, steel structures must be protected with refractory materials to improve the fire resistance rating.
        6Poor corrosion resistance of steel structure
Especially in humid and corrosive medium environment, it is easy to rust. General steel structures shall be derusted, galvanized or coated, and shall be maintained regularly. For offshore platform structures in seawater, special measures such as "zinc block anode protection" shall be taken to prevent corrosion.
        7The steel structure has poor corrosion resistance, low carbon, energy saving, green and environmental protection, and can be reused
       The demolition of steel structure buildings will hardly produce construction waste, and the steel can be recycled.
